Mexican Latin pop singer and actress Pilar Montenegro (born María del Pilar Montenegro López) got involved in show business after she joined a popular tropical/dance-pop group called Garibaldi, produced by Luis de Llano. Later, taking advantage of her popularity, Pilar Montenegro began playing roles in Mexican soap operas, such as Gotita De Amor, Marisol, and Volver A Empezar. In 1996 she had her breakthrough as a solo artist with the release of Son del Corazón.
